Job Description & How to Apply Below

About Strickland Legacy Group: Strickland Legacy Group (SLG) is an emerging family office platform supporting a growing portfolio of operating businesses, real estate investments, and long-term family initiatives. As SLG continues to grow, the finance function must provide both reliable day-to-day accounting and a scalable foundation for increasingly complex ownership, entity, reporting and transaction needs. We operate in a high-trust environment and value excellence, discretion, and execution.

Our culture is entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven.

Role

Purpose:

The Senior Accountant will serve as the foundational accounting resource for SLG and will own day-to-day accounting across SLG's portfolio of operating companies, real estate holdings, and family entities (at least five legal entities today, with more expected as the portfolio grows). This role requires broad general accounting capability, including oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, cash activity, month-end close, multi-entity reporting, and consolidations.

This individual should be able to move comfortably between transaction-level detail and the broader financial picture, while building repeatable processes, controls and reporting that can scale as SLG grows. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on operator who works with minimal oversight and serves as the go-to accounting expert within a lean and evolving organization. This position is primarily in-office and offers meaningful autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to help shape the accounting infrastructure of a family office.

Reports Directly To: Taylor Boles, Director of Family Office Operations

Core Responsibilities
  • Own the general ledger and month-end close process for all legal entities
  • Own accounts payable and accounts receivable across entities, including invoice processing, collections, aging review, coding, approvals, and issue resolution
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts across all entities
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, roll forwards, and supporting schedules
  • Manage intercompany transactions and eliminations across related entities
  • Maintain entity, class, and other reporting dimensions within Quick Books and related systems
  • Maintain a consistent, scalable chart of accounts and close calendar for all entities
  • Draft and maintain written accounting procedures across entities
Reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements by entity and consolidated financial reporting for the broader family office
  • Deliver regular and ad hoc analysis and reporting for ownership and leadership, including cash flow, budget-to-actual results, investment activity and business performance
  • Maintain clean, organized, and auditable support for all material balances
  • Prepare property-level and portfolio-level reporting for the real estate holdings
  • Prepare investment account reporting for marketable securities
Coordination and Support
  • Serve as the day-to-day accounting contact for outside CPA firm, including tax workpaper preparation and information requests
  • Support cash management, banking administration, treasury activity, and entity-level cash visibility
  • Establish and maintain practical internal controls, approval workflows, and segregation of duties as SLG scales
  • Record real estate acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and other complex or non-routine transactions
  • Coordinate 1099 preparation and annual compliance report filings across entities
Qualifications & Background Required
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, with broad general accounting responsibilities, including multi-entity experience
  • Advanced Quick Books and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a close, resolve accounting issues, prioritize competing deadlines, and produce accurate work without daily direction
  • Strong understanding of accounting controls, confidentiality, and the judgment required in a family office environment
Preferred
  • Active CPA license or CPA-track
  • Experience with Ramp, payroll platforms, and consolidating or reporting tools
  • Real estate, partnership, trust, private investment, or closely held business experience
  • Experience helping build or improve accounting processes within a growing family office, private investment office, or entrepreneurial organization
Personal Traits & Culture
  • Precise and accountable: catches errors, follows issues through to resolution, and takes ownership of the integrity of financial records
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Comfortable operating in a growing environment with shifting priorities, new entities, and evolving processes
  • Trustworthy
  • Polished, professional, and relationship-oriented
  • Hands-on and willing to perform detailed work while helping design the processes needed for future growth
