Job Description Summary
Working under direct supervision, provides administrative and clerical support to clinical and administrative staff including answering telephones, scheduling appointments, processing accounts receivable, managing confidential records, retrieving and filingmedical records, scanning, and data entry. Full-time weekdaysduring the academic year. Some Saturday hours occasionally.
Part-time summer hours are also required.

Essential Functions- Greet students and visitors to Deacon Health, answering questions in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assists patients with scheduling appointments and checking infor appointments appropriately.
- Answer phone calls and patient questions and provide information/resources, or take messages.
- Performs administrative and clerical functions includingroutine correspondence.
- Uses electronic medical records (EMR) to access and update patient information and schedules.
- Completes medical records tasks including copying, faxing,printing, uploading, and scanning.
- Assures confidentiality and privacy of medical records according to procedures, professional standards, and accreditation standards.
- Receives payments, verifies and posts charges to client accounts and campus departments.
- Balances and reconciles receivables for each day. Sorts,screens, and distributes mail as appropriate. Deliver materials oncampus.
- Maintain office supplies.
- Participates in staff projects, programs, and events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate with specialized training plus two or moreyears of medical office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with computer-based practice management systems – EMR
- General knowledge of office management procedures and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, otherclients, and Deacon Health office, clinical and administrative staff in a team environment.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously such asgreeting/registering students and answering the telephone.
- Superior customer service skills, proper telephone etiquette,and ability to maintain professional demeanor under pressure
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of University records and medical information.
- Proficiency with Google software and the ability to learnmedical office software.
- Accuracy and proficiency in typing skills; ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Skill in processing accounts receivable.
- Experience working with the college age population.
- Experience in a high volume primary care clinicenvironment.
- Medical record keeping experience.
- Essential student services staff:
Support the residentialstudent experience.
- Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in alldirections.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands, and/orfingers.
- Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from oneworkstation to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Occasionally exposed to low and/or high temperatures. Noisyenvironments and hazardous conditions.
