Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, budgets, cost reports, forecasts, project logs, and two-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Manage projects to meet or improve estimated cost, schedule, scope, quality, and profitability objectives.
  • Develop and continually evaluate project manpower plans based on project schedule, labor budgets, productivity expectations, installation requirements, and available workforce.
  • Monitor actual labor hours and productivity against estimated labor budgets and productivity expectations; identify variances and implement corrective action as needed.
  • Lead project kick-off, preconstruction, planning, progress, and closeout meetings as required.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, contract documents, and project requirements; identify design, specification, or constructability conflicts before they impact the project.
  • Coordinate field labor, piping and sheet metal supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, material deliveries, equipment, and other company departments.
  • Ensure field personnel understand the company's scope of work, project requirements, and applicable subcontractor scopes.
  • Purchase equipment and materials through approved company purchasing procedures; manage project buyout and verify vendor invoices against purchase orders.
  • Plan and coordinate material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements sufficiently in advance to prevent delays to field operations and the project schedule.
  • Evaluate self-perform versus subcontracting strategies based on manpower availability, schedule, cost, expertise, and project requirements.
  • Track scope changes and change-order opportunities and maintain required project documentation, permits, submittals, operating instructions, insurance certificates, and closeout documents.
  • Review project costs weekly, prepare monthly cost projections, support timely billing, and assist with collections consistent with contract requirements.
  • Visit assigned jobsites regularly, generally at least once per week, and monitor installation progress, workmanship, safety, schedule, quality, and manpower needs.
  • Coordinate and resolve project issues with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
  • Assist with HVAC system design, layout, installation drawings, sketches, and design-build coordination as required.
  • Identify and complete punch-list items and ensure contractual obligations and closeout requirements are satisfied.
  • Build and maintain productive long-term relationships with customers, owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
SAFETY AND FIELD LEADERSHIP
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, project-specific safety requirements, and applicable OSHA requirements on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Director and review project safety plans, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required briefings.
  • Supervise assigned field personnel and provide clear expectations regarding productivity, quality, schedule, conduct, and company policies.
  • Identify current and future staffing needs and work with Operations and Human Resources to recruit, develop, retain, and appropriately deploy field personnel.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and provide timely coaching and corrective feedback.
  • Promptly report and appropriately address employee-relations, EEO, harassment, or other policy concerns in coordination with Human Resources and management.
  • Set a professional example through communication, work habits, organization, conduct, and leadership.
