Position: [2025 - 2026] KIPP Pride 3-5 Physical Education Teacher

Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition‑free, college‑preparatory public charter schools that serve approximately 3,000 students in the counties of Durham, Halifax, Northampton and Mecklenburg.

Job Responsibilities
Expectations of Instruction Preparation & Delivery
  • Review, internalize, and facilitate KIPP NC adopted & scripted curriculum
  • Utilize assigned KIPP resources for K‑8 (Math, ELA, Science) and 9‑12 (English, History, Mathematics, Science) classes
  • Practice lesson delivery to follow the pacing guide with fidelity
  • Create exemplar responses and documents for work to hold students accountable
  • Use assessment data (Interim Assessments, MAP, EOGs, EOCs, summative, formative) to drive instruction and make lesson adjustments
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of pursuing excellence
  • Maintain an accurate gradebook, records and data‑tracking systems
Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture
  • Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies and culture
  • Assume personal responsibility for student achievement
  • Maintain a clean classroom and appropriate decor
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers and staff through regular communication and attendance at required events
  • Participate in daily functions of the school including arrival, advisory/circle time, lunch duty, recess and dismissal
Demonstrate a Growth Mindset
  • Collaborate with your coach to identify strengths and development needs each year
  • Receive feedback during class, one‑on‑ones and school walkthroughs
  • Attend Practice Clinics, weekly professional development sessions and regionally led PD opportunities

Requirements Required Qualifications
  • Deep commitment to KIPP NC’s mission and the potential of all students
  • Dedication to improving the lives of children from economically marginalized communities
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license, or willingness to pursue state certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area
  • Pass Criminal Background Check
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
  • Enthusiasm, grit, professionalism, and a sense of humor
  • Capacity to stand and actively monitor classrooms for 8+ hours daily
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of K‑12 teaching experience
  • Experience in a high‑performing charter school or a school with many students on free/reduced lunch
  • Demonstrated success in raising achievement of economically marginalized students
  • Praxis certification in progress or achieved by September 2025
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
Additional Information
  • Class schedule: M, Th, & F 7:30 am–3:30 pm;
    Tu & W 7:30 am–5:00 pm
  • Curriculum, materials and resources are provided
  • Monthly teacher workdays include professional development, data analysis and other essential activities
