This posting is for multiple vacancies located at Cabarrus YDC/JDC in Concord, NC.

This position will assist the Food Service Supervisor, support the facility’s Child Nutrition Program, and ensure compliance with the Department’s Federal Child Nutrition Program regulations.

• Providing nutritionally adequate meals meeting the federal Child Nutrition Program meal patterns.
• Maintaining required records, reports, and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Requisition ing food and supplies as needed.
• Maintaining high standards of personal cleanliness as well as food sanitation.
• Interpreting and following standard recipes and prescribed menus, as well as specific oral and written instructions.
• Checking the cost and quality of items received and ensuring proper storage.
• Complying with policies and procedures of the Department.
• Assuming any responsibilities as designated by the Youth Development Center Food Service Supervisor II, facility business officer, facility director, the Child Nutrition Program Administrator, and Child Nutrition Program Administrative Officer.

Work Schedule:

Work hours for this position are Monday-Sunday. The shifts vary for this position. Candidates must be able to work on-call hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis and be able to work a variable schedule to meet the needs of juveniles and their families.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies

Management Preference: These skills are not required but may enhance your chances of selection:

• Knowledge of methods for preparing different types of foods in large quantities.
• Knowledge of food temperatures.
• General knowledge of the Federal Child Nutrition Program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience in food preparation directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade, equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial and/or institutional setting.
