Given this context, the faculty in the Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice invites applications for an assistant professor, nine‑month tenure‑track position in Political Science in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education with a start date of August 2026. Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, serving as a faculty advisor, mentoring and coaching students, coordinating the Political Science major, and producing scholarly research that results in publications in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at professional conferences.
Candidates are also expected to engage in the procurement of extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams, participate in departmental and university service, and serve the Winston‑Salem and Forsyth County community.

- Teach undergraduate courses in Political Science and cross‑disciplinary courses, either face‑to‑face or online, and continuously communicate with students to monitor progress.
- Construct detailed course syllabi prior to the first class.
- Deliver classes, create and present relevant activities, assess assignments by providing written feedback in a timely fashion, and evaluate student performance.
- Hold office hours each week.
- Produce scholarly research that results in publications in peer‑reviewed journals within the discipline or journals that promote teaching and learning.
- Facilitate presentations at well‑respected international, national, regional, state, and local professional meetings and conferences.
- Cooperate with faculty across the university and external partners to form interdisciplinary teams that procure sponsored research.
- Attend departmental and college meetings consistently.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university‑level committees.
- Maintain membership in discipline‑specific professional organizations.
