Substitute School Teacher; K-12

Overview

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (K-12) – FT, PT. Carter G. Woodson School is a non-profit charter school in Winston-Salem, N.C. We serve 500 students from grades K – 12 each year and support over 80+ staff. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Substitute School Teachers to join our team. The desired candidate for this position will have a passion for education and exercise responsible leadership.

The candidate will communicate in a professional and positive manner at all times with parents, staff, students, school officials, and any other individual they may come in contact with.

As needed; on campus.

• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards;
• Teach academic concepts relevant to school students, including math, language arts, science, and social studies.
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards;
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
• Prepare students to successfully pass all state-required assessments, including EOGs and/or EOCs
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions;
• Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
• Be accountable for students  mastery of academic standards;
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues;

• Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom.
• Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom.
• Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects.
• Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
• Ability to assess student understanding and provide feedback.

• North Carolina State Teaching License.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Proven experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work well with diverse student populations.
• Knowledge of educational principles and teaching methods.
• Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Commensurate with experience.
