Job Description Summary

The Entrepreneurship Instructor supports student achievement and success by delivering high-quality entrepreneurship instruction to adult learners in a variety of educational settings, including correctional facilities through the Prison Education Program, college campuses, and community-based instructional sites. As a member of the Business and Information Technologies ( BIT ) Continuing Education team, the instructor creates engaging, practical learning experiences that promote entrepreneurial thinking, business development skills, financial literacy, workforce readiness, personal growth, and lifelong learning.

This is a part-time position. Courses may be offered during daytime and evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management, Economics, Adult Education, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in entrepreneurship, small business ownership, business management, workforce development, economic development, or a related field
  • Ability to successfully complete all required correctional facility clearances, security protocols, and training requirements
  • Flexibility to teach daytime and evening classes as assigned
  • Ability to travel to assigned instructional locations, including correctional facilities, college campuses, and community-based sites
  • Ability to teach adult learners
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Adult Education, or a related field
  • Previous teaching experience in a community college, continuing education, workforce development, correctional education
  • Experience with justice-involved individuals or underserved population
  • Knowledge and experience with de-escalation techniques
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed instructions, student engagement, and de-escalation techniques
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning
  • Deliver entrepreneurship and small business instruction in accordance with course outlines and program objectives
  • Teach courses at correctional facilities, campus locations, and community-based instructional sites as assigned
  • Develop and implement engaging instructional activities that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, financial literacy and workforce readiness
  • Adapt instructional methods to meet the various learning needs of adult students
  • Foster a respectful learning environment that supports student success
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress using appropriate evaluation methods
  • Maintain accurate attendance, performance, and completion records
  • Use approved instructional technologies and learning resources appropriate for each instructional setting
  • Ensure instruction aligns with college standards and facility- specific requirements
  • Update instructional materials to reflect current industry trends, business practices, and workforce needs
Student Success
  • Provide academic support, mentoring, coaching, and encouragement to students
  • Help students identify educational, career, and entrepreneurial goals
  • Promote student retention, completion, and continued engagement in educational opportunities
  • Connect students with available support services and resources when appropriate
  • Encourage personal responsibility, leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Support students in developing practical skills that contribute to successful employment, business ownership, and community reintegration
Program Support and Contributions to Community
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education staff, Prison Education Program staff, correctional facility personnel, and community partners
  • Participate in program planning, recruitment, and retention initiatives as assigned
  • Assist with curriculum review and program improvement efforts
  • Represent the college and BIT Continuing Education Division at meetings, community events, and recruitment activities as appropriate
  • Maintain professional relationships with employers, business leaders, workforce partners, and correctional education stakeholders
Professional Development
  • Participate in required training, workshops, conferences, and professional development activities
  • Maintain current knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business development, workforce trends, and adult learning best practices
  • Pursue continued growth in instructional effectiveness, educational technology, and student success strategies
