Position Summary

The Office of Research & Innovation at Winston-Salem State University is seeking to fill two full-time Grants Administrator positions:

  • EHRA 110276
  • EHRA 010622

The Grants Administrator will be both a member of the Office of Research & Innovation, reporting to the Associate Provost for Research & Innovation, and a liaison to the School of Health Sciences (SOHS), the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE), and/or the College of Business and Entrepreneurship (CBE), working with the respective Dean. This position serves as liaison between the faculty applying for grants, the Sponsored Programs staff for pre-award and post-award, and the granting agencies.

The Grants Administrator will work with Sponsored Programs pre-award staff to research, prepare, and submit grant proposals, and work with Sponsored Programs post-award staff to manage funded grants, assist in hiring and ordering, and administer reports that meet funder guidelines and criteria. The Grants Administrator will assist in grant writing/editing, managing external relationships, engaging in compliance reporting, and supporting special project initiatives.

This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement.

Responsibilities of the Grant Administrator include: PRE
- Award Services
  • Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including:
  • Researching new funding and business development opportunities on local, state, and federal levels.
  • Maintaining and building relationships with faculty and staff, as well as funders and other strategic partners on a local, state, and national level.
  • Participation in drafting proposals/letters of intent, grant application narratives, and budgets and collaborate to finalize with Sponsored Programs pre-award staff, finance (as needed), and both the Deans and Associate Provost for Research & Innovation.
  • Uploading grant applications via online portals.
  • Meeting with faculty and staff to explore funding opportunities.
  • Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence.
  • Maintaining library of grant support documents including biosketches, facilities/equipment resources pages, and other forms needed for federal grants.
  • Executing and facilitating grant contracts/agreements with Sponsored Programs post-award staff.
  • Ensuring acknowledgment of funders/investors via website, e-newsletter, and social media.
