Description of Work The Associate Educator assists the Curator of Education and Outreach with museum programming, both on and offsite, for the North Carolina Maritime Museum s position will book, plan, and implement educational programming for Pre-K through 3rd grade. This position schedules and organizes school and children’s groups on the museum calendar. The Associate Educator maintains statistics on educational programs and program attendance and also maintains a database of contact information for local schools within the regional museum’s six county radius.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist with onsite and outreach educational programming.
• Facilitate and implement educational programming for school groups and the public.
• Schedule groups and maintain contact database.
• Ability to work cooperatively with Museum curatorial and visitor services staff and volunteers.
• Assist with daily operations.

Recruitment Range: $39,224 - $44,000

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
• Previous experience creating lesson plans or programming for elementary and/or pre-k students.
• Previous experience working in a museum or other public history setting.

Position/Physical Requirements
• Position works 8:30am – 5pm, Tuesday
-Saturday with occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
