Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Director:
Programming and Curriculum provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for all aspects of curriculum selection and development, spiritual formation, and Sunday service flow. This role is responsible for creating a thriving ministry environment where children are known, loved, discipled, and equipped to grow in their relationship with Jesus. This role ensures classrooms are prepared and welcoming each week by managing environment design, supplies, inventory, and room readiness.
The Director leads curriculum implementation and teaching, including volunteer training, and collaborates with the Children’s Ministry Director:
Family Engagement and Volunteers on Vacation Bible School, leading the programming, environment, and curriculum. Through these responsibilities, the Director ensures weekly ministry experiences are well-planned, spiritually formative, and executed with excellence.
The Director works in partnership with the Children’s Ministry Director:
Family Engagement and Volunteers to ensure the vision and values of the children's ministry are established in line with the vision of New Church and are effectively implemented.
- Curriculum selection and development, including for adaptive learning styles
- Spiritual formation strategy; baptisms
- Sunday service flow, including special events occurring on Sunday morning
- Classroom experience and environment
- Supplies, inventory, room readiness
- Volunteer training, curriculum, and teaching
- Volunteer replacements for 24-hour callouts
- Input to volunteer and parent communication, including newsletters
- VBS shared; programing, environment, and curriculum
- Demonstrates a growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Passionate about children and committed to helping them know and follow Jesus.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relational skills.
- Experience serving in or leading children's ministry preferred.
- Experience recruiting, training, and developing volunteers.
- Ability to cast vision while also providing effective leadership and accountability.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, parents, and church leadership.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and theological beliefs of the church
This is an on-site, part-time position (20 hours per week), reporting to the Executive Director.
