Position Summary InformationJob Description Summary
The full-time HVAC Instructor (12 month appointment) is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, including heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and heating units. This position serves incarcerated students, workforce development participants, and employed contractors seeking upskilling or certification. The instructor will support student success through engaging instruction, hands‑on training, and adherence to program and institutional standards.
Minimum QualificationsRequired:
- Certificate in HVAC with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience OR
- Diploma in HVAC with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience OR
- Licensed HVAC professional without a certificate or diploma, but trained in the field: minimum of 5 years of industry experience
- EPA
-608 certification
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree from an HVAC Technical School.

Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Dept of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC .

Teaching Assignments- Deliver instructions as assigned by the Program Coordinator, including classroom, lab, and on‑site training for students.
- Provide effective instruction tailored to the needs of incarcerated learners, workforce development students, and employed contractors.
- Maintain all required College records, including attendance, grade reports, and roll books.
- Compile bibliographies, supplemental materials, and outside reading assignments as appropriate.
- Recommend supplies, equipment, and repairs to the Program Coordinator.
- Construct, administer, and grade examinations and assessments.
- Remain familiar with and adhere to all college policies and procedures.
- The employee will need to regularly operate and use computers, phones and other electronic equipment.
- The employee will frequently communicate with other employees and students and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- The employee may need to move around their office and / or campus to attend meetings / classes and to access files, machinery or other job related tools.
- The employee may need to lift and/or move equipment, tools or paperwork up to 25 pounds.
- The employee may need to position themselves by reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching in order to adjust or collect equipment and/or supplies.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
