WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY. The Department of German and Russian invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of German, effective July 1, 2027.
QualificationsAn earned Ph.D. in German Literature or arelated field is required for the position, as is native ornear-native fluency in German; ABD candidates are invited to apply.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach courses in German Literature and Culture, initiate and sustainoriginal research and scholarship in 21st-century literary and cultural production in area(s) of expertise such as but not limitedto migration and transnationalism, environmental humanities, mediastudies, Jewish studies, or gender and sexuality studies, and contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning andgrowth. The successful candidate will have prior experience as aprimary classroom instructor and will be able to provide evidence of teaching excellence.
Experience with study abroad programs isparticularly welcome. In addition to regular teaching duties and anactive research agenda, the candidate is expected to participateactively in the department's life, including extracurricular activities with students. This individual will be expected to teach courses in first- and second-year German language, as well asliterature and culture classes in German and English at the undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities, participate indepartmental, College, and University service, and contribute tothe University’s community outreach efforts.
