Job Description Summary
Adult Learner & Student Parent Success Coach
reimagines the role of academic advising by shifting from a transactional approach to a transformational one—empowering adult students to design and pursue their academic and career goals. This position is a vital part of the Division of Holistic Success Services, providing proactive and holistic support to adult learners, with a special focus on student parents and other non-traditional student populations. The Success Coach guides students through academic and continuing education program, offers career exploration opportunities, supports financial readiness, and promotes overall student development.
The primary goal of the Success Coach is to increase retention and academic success
among adult students through strategic outreach and technology-driven engagement. By
helping students—especially nontraditional students—build the capacity to make
informed decisions about their education, career, and life, the Success Coach plays a key
role in advancing adult student achievement at Forsyth Tech with a two-generation
approach.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Masters Degree

Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC . - The three (3) years of professional experience counseling/advising/teaching students in an educational environment
- Three (3) years or more of experience providing support services to adult, high-need postsecondary students to include outreach, academic and/or career coaching and case management
- Experience using technology including Microsoft Office suite and a relational student information system, e.g. Datatel Colleague, Banner, etc.
- Experience with collaborative and experiential methodologies to improve student learning.
- Experience collecting, analyzing and acting upon student data.
- Excellent presentation and computer skills.
- Ability to work well with individuals
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
- Three (3) or more years of experience working with adult student populations
- Advanced degree in adult education or learning
- Demonstrates an understanding of the dynamics of adult learners, working learners, and parenting learners and the importance of cultivating strong partnerships to support their academic and personal success
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Serve as student concierge or guide to all college programs and offices.
- Provide academic coaching to new, continuing, returning, and prospective adult students; explain policies, procedures, and program requirements in a variety of modalities.
- Review, interpret, and evaluate adult student applicant test scores and other information to determine eligibility status.
- Maintain current knowledge of curriculum and continuing education or workforce development programs, and review/analyze student retention and success data.
- Inform students within curriculum and continuing education programs about alternatives, limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses; change of program, major and/or transfer…
