Job Description
The Department of Statistical Sciences at Wake Forest University welcomes applications for one tenure‑track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Statistics. We welcome applications from all areas within Statistics, Biostatistics, and related fields. The position begins July 1, 2027. Skillful teaching is a key responsibility, with a 2-2 teaching load that includes courses at both introductory and advanced undergraduate levels and at the Master’s level.
Additionally, the successful candidate will maintain a robust program of research and publication, in keeping with standards of the discipline, mentor students in research, and support the Wake Forest University mission through service to the department, the College of Liberal Arts, and the university.
An earned Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field is required for the position; ABD candidates are invited to apply. Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach courses in Statistics or Biostatistics, initiate and sustain original research and scholarship in their area(s) of expertise, and contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders.

Additional InformationThe Department of Statistical Sciences has sixteen permanent faculty members, whose research interests include the areas of: actuarial science, applied probability, Bayesian methods, bioinformatics, biostatistics, causal inference, clinical trials, environmental statistics, foundations of statistics, functional data analysis, measurement error, missing data, networks, epidemiology, spatio-temporal models, and statistics education. Statistics programs within the department include both a B.A. and a B.S. in Statistics, a B.S. in Applied Statistics, a B.S. in Decision Analytics, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Graduate Certificate in Data Science.
