What you will do
- Oversight and accountability for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) operations at the Winston Salem plant.
- Assist in EHS activities at other sites as needed.
- Partner with your EHS Cluster and Regional EHS leadership to implement global, regional and plant EHS standards.
- Serve as the general subject‑matter expert for EHS operations within your plant.
- Provide technical support on EHS matters across the plant and lead initiatives or project teams to address specific changes or issues.
- Partner with other members of your EHS Cluster such as the Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Engineer and Occupational Health Nurse as well as the broader plant operations team to develop site‑specific execution plans.
- Communicate EHS opportunities and risks to Plant and EHS leadership.
- Maintain awareness of applicable international, state, local and corporate EHS requirements.
- Lead implementation of the plant’s EHS programs and processes.
- Implement a communication strategy across the plant that reinforces high levels of EHS awareness.
- Validate program and process implementation with hourly staff, team leaders, supervisors and plant management.
- Review contract documentation for large‑project jobs that may affect EHS execution.
- Oversee EHS technical, managerial and process training for all levels.
- Track and communicate EHS performance metrics (audits, events, training, etc.).
- Guide Plant Management and hourly staff in incident trend analysis and implement root‑cause preventive measures.
- Represent EHS in obtaining approval for capital and expenses to address EHS risks and opportunities.
- Partner with Cluster and Regional teams to fill gaps in industrial hygiene, occupational health, permitting, auditing, etc.
- Escalate EHS issues to Business, Operating and EHS Leadership promptly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Industrial Safety or a related field.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 10%.
Onsite, 5 days a week at the Winston‑Salem, North Carolina assembly plant.
