Position Summary

The Engineering Manager leads Sonic Aire's Engineering Department by developing people, implementing and improving engineering processes, and ensuring the successful execution of engineering initiatives that support our customers and company growth. As the functional leader of Engineering, this role partners with Production and Supply Chain to provide innovative, high-quality solutions from the Operations Division.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Lead, Manage, and hold the Engineering team Accountable (LMA)
  • Foster Sonic Aire's Culture, Core Values, and Innovative Spirit in the engineering department
  • Develop and improve engineering processes, standards, metrics, and documentation
  • Maintain CAD drawing files, file structure, and database (2D and 3D)
  • Champion Lean/5S initiatives and continuous improvements efforts
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign engineering resources to see projects from concept to implementation
  • Establish project scopes, schedules, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, engineering guidance, and technical approvals
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion
  • Lead new product development efforts in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Service
  • Lead product improvement initiatives that enhance quality, manufacturability, reliability, and reduce cost
  • Manage third-party certifications (UL), including new projects and existing files
  • Support Operations by resolving technical issues and vetting new components and materials
  • Partner with Production and Supply Chain Managers to achieve Operations goals
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations that support decision-making
  • Optimize and organize physical engineering spaces (R&D, 3D Printers, Dust Testing, Engineering Office)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading engineering projects from concept through implementation
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, welding, machining, and assembly
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop technical professionals
  • Experience with 2D drawing, 3D modeling, and project management software
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively across Operations, Sales, Service, and Business Administration
  • 2+ years of supervisory or engineering leadership experience
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methods
  • Experience with ERP systems and engineering document control
  • Knowledge of electrical systems/components, industrial controls, or UL/CSA certification requirements
  • Experience with new product development and introduction
