Project Manager (Deputy

Role: Deputy Project Manager for transportation projects within the Project Management Unit, responsible for delivering low to moderate complexity projects on time and within budget.

• Manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk for projects.
• Assist senior project staff with daily activities on complex projects.
• Support oversight of private engineering firms.
• Ensure quality of project deliverables.
• Develop reports to track project progress and budgets.
• Collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary groups to address project needs and challenges.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, with three years of experience or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, highway design, and project delivery processes.
• Experience in project planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with professional engineering contracts, scoping, estimating, and negotiating.
• Strong skills in setting priorities, developing work schedules, and monitoring progress.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
• Optional:
  Professional engineering registration (PE) in North Carolina.

Supporting project delivery, managing project components, coordinating with external and internal teams, and ensuring project quality and compliance.
