Location & Role

Winston Salem, North Carolina (Onsite position). This role is a U.S.

-based role. The salary range for this role is 53,100 USD - 100,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Role Summary

Our interiors team is looking for a Senior Test Technician to perform aircraft seat structural testing. The role requires a visionary leader to oversee a talented and diverse team of Engineering Project Leads and Project Engineers. In this role, you’ll champion design excellence, drive schedule and budget success, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will be at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art seating actuation systems and components that set new standards in safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate to set up and test commercial aircraft seats and furniture, ensuring high-quality and functional outcomes in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks, contributing practical assistance to streamline project processes.
  • Confer with engineers on the details and implications of test article set up, test procedures, and results, fostering improved communication and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with a variety of hand tools to efficiently build and set up structural tests in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Apply mechanical and manufacturing concepts to ensure precision and functionality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with excellent written and oral skills, thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Utilize basic to moderate computer skills to support project documentation and daily operations.
  • Leverage working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel to manage data and maintain organized project records.
  • Interpret engineering drawings with accuracy, ensuring adherence to design specifications and technical requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • Prior experience with commercial aircraft seat structural testing is required. Specifically, 16g and 14g dynamic testing.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Proven expertise in testing and quality assurance environments, with a strong focus on delivering reliable and high-performance results.
  • Highly organized with strong judgment, capable of multitasking and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D modeling software, applying technical skills to support design, prototype, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metal machining and fabrication equipment, ensuring precision and quality in production operations.
