Structural Certification Engineer II
Our award winning Interiors team is looking for a Structural Certification Engineer II to support showing compliance of commercial aircraft interior components to federal and industry standards to support implementation of interior modifications onto aircraft.
This is an onsite position in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
What You Will Do:
- Perform structural analyses using hand and computer calculations, including static analysis of aerospace components.
- Define, assess, and document repair designs for metallic, bonded metallic, and advanced composite aerospace structures.
- Work with Materials Review Board (MRB) and regulatory authorities to develop standard repair instructions.
- Analyze repair proposals and prepare formal engineering reports supporting minor and major repairs for internal and external customers, which may include obtaining authorized engineering signatures.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities across product lines and processes.
- Support corrective action and defect reduction initiatives by identifying recurring technical issues and contributing to sustainable solutions.
- Develop and implement processes, methods, and tools that improve efficiency throughout Engineering Production Support workflows activities.
- Develop or improve engineering methods, tools, databases, and automated workflows that increase efficiency.
- Apply CORE tools and continuous improvement principles to reduce process turnbacks, improve engineering performance, and support the objectives of the organization.
- Communicate technical findings, recommendations, risks, and decisions clearly to engineering leadership, customers, and cross functional stakeholders.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company's immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
- Experience performing static stress and fatigue analysis using classical methods and finite element analysis.
- Experience with load paths, free body diagrams, load balance, and common failure modes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
