Job OverviewAt TE Connectivity, you'll help bring our purpose to life by creating a safer, sustainable, productive and connected future. Your role as an Intern in the Choose an item. Business Unit, will help us make the connections that move the world forward by:
- Working with the Electric Vehicle Charging Inlets team in the Product Design & Development area
- Supporting the design and development of next-generation EV charging inlet components using 3D CAD tools such Creo
- Assisting in review of engineering drawings, tolerancing (GD&T), and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Participating in design verification and validation (DVV) activities including prototype builds, functional testing, and test report documentation
- Collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and tooling teams to support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews
- Supporting root cause analysis and corrective action processes related to product design or performance issues
- Contributing to cost reduction and product improvement initiatives through engineering change proposals
- Presenting project findings and technical updates to engineering and leadership teams, building real-world communication and project management skills

- Design and iterate on mechanical components for EV charging inlets using industry-standard CAD tools, translating concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs
- Collaborate directly with experienced engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to the full product development lifecycle from ideation and concept selection through validation and launch
- Apply engineering fundamentals such as materials science, mechanical tolerancing, and electrical interface requirements in a real-world product environment
- Participate in design reviews, contributing fresh perspectives and ideas that directly influence product outcomes
- Conduct and support testing activities to verify product performance against customer and regulatory requirements, including EV charging standards such as SAE J1772 or IEC 62196
- Engage with global cross-functional teams including manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and customers - building a professional network across a Fortune 500 company
- Develop professional skills in technical communication, problem solving, and project execution in a fast-paced, innovation-driven engineering environment
