Tax and Treasury Manager

Responsibilities include managing tax compliance, treasury operations, and cash flow optimization for Cook & Boardman Group. The role oversees tax strategy, planning, and reporting to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. It also handles cash flow management, banking relationships, debt compliance, and liquidity optimization to support the company’s financial health and growth objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including income, sales/use, property, and other business taxes.
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns through internal resources and external advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations, monitor changes, and assess impact on the business.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
  • Manage audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Manage accounts and filing requirements with tax authorities.
  • Maintain accurate tax records and documentation.
  • Oversee daily cash positioning, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity management.
  • Manage short‑term investments, credit facilities, and debt compliance.
  • Establish and maintain strong banking relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Implement and maintain treasury controls and processes to mitigate financial risk.
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities to improve working capital efficiency.
  • Partner with finance, accounting, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely tax and treasury reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and financial institutions.
  • Support M&A activities by performing tax due diligence and treasury integration planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate tax, treasury, or a related finance role.
  • Experience in multi‑state tax compliance and planning required.
  • Experience with treasury management systems (TMS) and ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics) a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax laws and treasury operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to anticipate financial impacts.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.

Physical Demands

Work Environment
