Scholar Advising is a financial advising firm serving high-net-worth families nationwide. We're hiring an entry-level or early-career Financial Planning Analyst for someone who wants to grow into a financial planner or advisor.
This role blends financial planning, research and analysis, and client advisory support. Working closely with senior advisers, you'll build comprehensive financial plans, analyze client situations, draft recommendations, and support client meetings. Your work directly enables the depth, accuracy, and client experience Scholar Advising is known for.
We re looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented, intellectually curious self-starter who takes ownership of the planning process and wants to build a career in financial advising. Success means clear and actionable plans, confident and well-educated clients, timely support for advisers, stronger client retention, and a more scalable planning process.
Role Responsibilities- Build and support comprehensive financial plans covering retirement, tax, estate, investments, cash flow, insurance, education, and charitable giving
- Analyze client information to identify planning opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs
- Draft clear, client-centered recommendations aligned with client goals, firm standards, and compliance
- Prepare client meeting materials: plan updates, recommendation summaries, portfolio reviews, and action items
- Participate in client meetings with senior advisers, taking notes, presenting concepts, and supporting follow-up
- Track post-meeting action items to completion and maintain accurate client documentation
- Review portfolios for asset allocation, asset location, tax efficiency, diversification, and rebalancing opportunities
- Research tax, investment, retirement, estate, and insurance topics to support recommendations
- Improve the firm s planning process through better templates and shared best practices
- Collaborate with advisers, operations, and client service for a seamless client experience
- Pursue professional development, including the CFP, CFA, or other relevant credentials
- Self-starter who anticipates needs, thinks critically, and follows through
- 0–3 years in financial planning, wealth management, investment analysis, or related financial services
- Intended progress toward (or completion of) the CFP or CFA strongly preferred
- Ability to build, analyze, and interpret comprehensive financial plans
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Comfort with financial planning software, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and AI productivity tools
- Commitment to fiduciary planning and serving clients with objectivity and care
