Winston-Salem State University is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Services & Deputy Chief Financial OfficerThe Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Services & Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Deputy CFO ) serves as the senior administrator responsible for the University’s financial services operations and functions as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer ( COO ), the Deputy CFO serves as the principal deputy to the COO for financial administration and provides leadership and oversight for the University’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, purchasing, contracts and grants, payroll, student financial services, treasury operations, financial systems, tax compliance, debt administration, shared business services, and financial analytics.
The Deputy CFO supports the Chief Operating Officer by implementing institutional financial priorities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, UNC System policies, and University procedures, providing financial analyses and recommendations, and leading continuous improvement of financial operations and customer service across the University.
- Serve as the principal deputy to the Chief Operating Officer on financial administration and financial operations.
- Assist the COO in implementing institutional financial priorities and operational initiatives.
- Provide financial analyses, operational recommendations, and decision support to the COO , Chancellor, Cabinet, and University leadership.
- Represent the COO on financial and administrative matters as delegated.
- Coordinate financial activities with the UNC System Office, Office of State Controller, Office of State Budget and Management, Office of State Treasurer, Office of State Auditor, and other external agencies.
- Provide leadership for financial operations in the absence of the COO , as assigned.
- Direct and manage the day-to-day administration of five (5) direct reports including the Controller’s Office, Financial Reporting, General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Student Accounts/Cashiers, Purchasing, Contracts and Grants, Financial Planning and Budget, Financial Systems, Tax Compliance, Treasury Operations, Debt Administration, Endowment Accounting, and Financial Analytics.
