Emergency Medical Technician- Part-Time

Job Overview

This position performs technical work driving an ambulance to rescue or transport the sick and injured, administers emergency medical care at the basic level, gathers medical history and relays it to doctors or hospitals, assists the Paramedic and Advanced EMT, and performs related tasks as required.

Part‑time (up to 24 hours per week) on an as‑needed basis. Works a 24‑hour shift.

• Drive an ambulance to rescue or transport sick and injured patients.
• Administer basic emergency medical care.
• Gather medical history and relay it to doctors or hospitals.
• Assist the Paramedic and Advanced EMT.
• Perform related tasks as required.

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Completion of an EMT course provided by the North Carolina State Office of EMS.
• Minimum six months of experience and training in emergency medical care.
• Appropriate State of North Carolina driver’s license.
• State of N.C. certification as an EMT at the basic level (or ability to obtain).
• Preferred:
  Advanced or Paramedic certification (salary commensurate).

• Completed Halifax County Application for Employment (HR1107).
• College transcripts (official first; unofficial copies acceptable for application).
• Photocopy of all certifications.
• Criminal background check required prior to hiring.
• Pre‑employment drug test (negative result prior to first day).
