Air Care ALS Paramedic – Ground Transports (Pilot Mountain Base)

Location:

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center – Pilot Mountain Base

Schedule:

7 p.m. – 7 a.m., 2/2/3 rotating schedule, 36 hours per week. Full‑time.

Salary: $24.10 – $36.15 per hour (based on qualifications, skills, experience). Sign‑on bonus up to $7,500 available.

What You’ll Do

The ALS Paramedic provides professional care through high‑quality assessment, triage and treatment, prioritizing necessary care, and delivering comprehensive care through diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Paramedic will care for patients of all ages, operating specialized equipment, and utilizing advanced skills under protocols approved by the Medical Director and NCOEMS. The role requires proficiency in advanced practice procedures to improve patient outcomes.

Looking For
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited EMT‑Paramedic training program required.
  • North Carolina Paramedic certification required.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS and PALS required prior to completing orientation.
  • Two (2) years of clinical paramedic experience required, including one (1) year of active field pre‑hospital experience.
  • Advocate Health approved driving course completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurable by Advocate Health insurance carrier for Air Care vehicles.

  • Develops and implements care plans, coordinates delivery, and promotes health in safe environments.

  • Practices ethically, delegating tasks appropriately, promoting shared governance.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competence in Paramedic practice.
  • Integrates evidence and research findings into practice, contributes to quality improvement.
  • Communicates effectively in various formats.
  • Evaluates own practice against professional standards, statutes, and regulations.
  • Utilizes resources for safe, effective, and financially responsible services.
  • Participates in committees, shared governance, or decision‑making activities.
  • Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Models mission, vision, values, standards of excellence of the Atrium Health system.
  • Supports patient‑centered care philosophy.
  • Initiates advanced procedures (e.g., video laryngoscopy, BAID, needle chest decompression, central line placement, intraosseous placement, pharmacologic agents).
  • Operates and manages ventilation equipment and patient airway support.
  • Ensures equipment is functional, supplies stocked, ambulance area clean and mission‑ready.
  • Handles equipment challenges independently.
  • Obtains necessary signatures, documents medical care, and submits paperwork for each transport.
  • Maintains annual compliance in education related to specialty areas and/or base locations outside typical practice.
  • Attends simulation labs, mechanical ventilator management labs, certified emergency vehicle operations, and programs on sleep deprivation, just culture, and stress management.
