Job SummaryThis part‑time, 16 hour/week position (not benefits‑eligible) is within the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, specifically working within the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) Coordinating Center. The Jackson Heart Study is a large, community‑based observational study whose participants were recruited from the Jackson, Mississippi area.
The Program Manager II performs management‑level work focused on the planning, implementation, and coordination of the Jackson Heart Study and its associated activities. Responsibilities include complex database development, data capture, monitoring, and analysis, which involve collaboration with study partners, medical records departments, and investigators. This Program Manager II will work closely with study team members to develop and maintain the event ascertainment and adjudication system, with particular emphasis on integrating pragmatic and administrative data sources.
These data sources include electronic health record (EHR) data, claims data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and mortality data from the National Death Index.
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
- Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Three years’ experience in project management, program management development, administration or supervisory experience required.
- Manages and oversees the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of major projects and assumes major responsibility for the successful and timely completion of tasks within projects.
- Manages and/or implements all operational policies and procedures related to the functioning of the project.
- Prepares periodic analyses and reports reflecting progress and trends of ongoing projects/programs; identifies and anticipates potential issues and risks, makes suggestions for improvement, and implements as appropriate.
- Assists in the administration of the study related budgets by tracking expenditures and performing other financial tasks. Verifies deduction authorizations to ensure correct input.
- Assumes responsibility for the outcome of the program; assists and supervises support personnel. Manages data for applicable databases to produce outcomes information for quality reporting and operational initiatives.
- Provides guidance to other project staff related to event ascertainment and adjudication system development, testing, and implementation.
- Represents the program to all related development, serves as the program liaison, spokesperson and representative.
- Arranges, implements, and facilitates team meetings to achieve results. Attends meetings with appropriate staff and faculty as necessary to provide and gather information. Promotes a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Ensures that all aspects of the projects are conducted in accordance to the sponsor requirements.
- Ensures compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations and guidelines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Five years’ experience working with clinical trials and/or large research studies.
- Previous supervisory experience, two years preferred.
- Experience in leading teams and in decision‑making roles.
- Working knowledge of clinical trial/research study management systems and electronic medical records.
- Solid interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with business partners across departments and facilitate work among teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong PC background in computer spreadsheets systems and presentation packages.
