Job Summary

This part‑time, 16 hour/week position (not benefits‑eligible) is within the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, specifically working within the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) Coordinating Center. The Jackson Heart Study is a large, community‑based observational study whose participants were recruited from the Jackson, Mississippi area. The Program Manager II performs management‑level work focused on the planning, implementation, and coordination of the Jackson Heart Study and its associated activities.

Responsibilities include complex database development, data capture, monitoring, and analysis, which involve collaboration with study partners, medical records departments, and investigators. This Program Manager II will work closely with study team members to develop and maintain the event ascertainment and adjudication system, with particular emphasis on integrating pragmatic and administrative data sources. These data sources include electronic health record (EHR) data, claims data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and mortality data from the National Death Index.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of major projects, ensuring successful and timely completion of tasks within projects.
  • Implement all operational policies and procedures related to the functioning of projects.
  • Prepare periodic analyses and reports reflecting progress and trends of ongoing projects/programs; identify and anticipate potential issues and risks, make suggestions for improvement, and implement as appropriate.
  • Assist in the administration of the study‑related budgets by tracking expenditures and performing other financial tasks; verify deduction authorizations to ensure correct input.
  • Assist and supervise support personnel, manage data for applicable databases to produce outcomes information for quality reporting and operational initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to other project staff related to event ascertainment and adjudication system development, testing, and implementation.
  • Serve as the program liaison, spokesperson, and representative to all related development.
  • Arrange, implement, and facilitate team meetings to achieve results; attend meetings with appropriate staff and faculty as necessary to provide and gather information and promote a cooperative work environment.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the projects are conducted in accordance with sponsor requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations and guidelines.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Three years' experience in project management, program management development, administration, or supervisory experience required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Five years' experience working with clinical trials and/or large research studies.
  • Experience in leading teams and in decision‑making roles.
  • Working knowledge of clinical trial/research study management systems and electronic medical records.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with business partners across departments and facilitate work among teams.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong PC background in computer spreadsheets systems and presentation packages.
  • Skilled problem solver who can work independently.
  • Ability to manage special projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively persuade and influence to achieve desired outcomes with diverse clientele.
Work Environment

Hybrid work model, comfortable office setting. Subject to interruptions and irregular work hours.
