• Unit Information:
o Beds: 28
• Average census 26
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year of experience in Cardiology
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Cardiac PCU - Heart Failure, procedural patients (Cath/EP), Vascular pts
• Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:4-5
o CNA: 1:11-14
• Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Skills required:
o Cardiac rhythm interpretation;
Cardiac post-procedural experience
o Must be comfortable titrating gtts - insulin, heparin, Cardizem, Amio, Aggrestat, pressors
• Support within the Department:
o CNA:
Supports the RN by obtaining VS and blood glucose checks; assists with hourly safety rounds and ADLs
o Receptionist/HUC
o Charge nurse: may or may not have patient assignment
o Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws
o No IV/VAT team
o RT 24/7? Yes, available - will need to page for assistance when needed
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech - nurses responsible for monitoring/verifying strips - once a shift
