Must-Have:
Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
Telemetry experience, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with use of rapid response teams, IV insulin protocols, and blood product administration.
Experience with central and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and heparin protocols.
Demonstrated ability to manage patients with CVA, chest tubes, and external CPAP/BIPAP.
Experience with high-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
Tracheostomy management and isolation precautions experience required.
Description:
RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out on site.
Any call offs or additional RTO on the unit may result in a cancelation.
No block scheduling is implemented.
The unit runs similarly to an ICU, requiring strong drip experience.
Target ratios for patient care are between 3:1 and 4:1.
Unit accepts contracts for 13 weeks and offers 36 or 48 hours per week.
Floating to a sister unit may be required as needed.
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
Patient diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative complications.
The age range for patients is from adolescent to geriatric.
Only one pressor drip is permitted per patient; if more are needed, patients are transferred.
Specific drips given on the unit include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, and Levophed.
Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors, A-lines, BIPAPs, and chest tubes.
The unit does not utilize vents.
Nurses are responsible for recognizing and treating dysrhythmias.
Compliance with the fatigue policy is required.
Travelers cannot work more than five consecutive days or 60 hours in a week.
