Forsyth County Management Information Services (MIS) has an opening for a well-qualified candidate for an open IT Team Leader (Networking) position.
IT Team Leader (Networking) is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, security, and ongoing support of the County's network infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity for critical government operations, public safety services, and citizen-facing applications. This position supervises network staff, manages network and telecommunications projects, participates in cybersecurity initiatives, develops technology standards, coordinates vendor relationships, and provides strategic direction for the County's networking environment.

Knowledge of budgets and contracts pertaining to area of responsibility.
Ability to manage a team.
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, enterprise Wifi and network protocols.
Expert understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts.
Proficient with SD-WAN concepts, configurations and management.
Understanding of network security practices, including port security, NAC, 802.1X, and segmentation.
Experience with Cisco, Meraki and Extreme enterprise technologies.
Design and manage highly available networks with redundancy and performance across the infrastructure.
Expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs and network security best practices.
Experience with Prisma Access is a cloud-delivered Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution by Palo Alto Networks.
Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
Maintain documentation including diagrams, inventory, standards, and procedures.
Mentor, lead, and develop technical networking administrators.
Lead troubleshooting efforts during outages, performance issues, or hardware failures.
Plan and execute switch refresh cycles, expansion projects, and modernization initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize operational demands.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, plus four years experience in either system administration or software application development in the area of Networking. Project Management experience preferred.
Drivers license is required.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

Manages teams and resources to design, integrate and implement advanced computing solutions.
Works with Chief Information Officer to shape and carry out strategic plan for Forsyth County government.
Responsible for project planning, design and successful implementation.
