Position Overview
Winston‑Salem State University (WSSU) is seeking an IT Analyst / Programmer II to design, implement, and support technology solutions that power the university’s academic and administrative systems. The role requires collaboration with campus partners to analyze needs, develop applications, and manage key platforms such as Canvas, Panopto, and other enterprise tools that directly impact teaching, learning, and student success.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, implement, and support applications aligned with university needs.
- Administer and maintain enterprise systems, including:
- Team Dynamix (CRM)
- Learning Management System (Canvas LMS)
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Academic tools such as Panopto, Respondus, and Turnitin
- Perform system maintenance, upgrades, and monitoring to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop integrations, workflows, and enhancements to existing systems.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across applications.
- Analyze business processes and translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop test plans, scenarios, and documentation to ensure quality and performance.
- Evaluate and improve application functionality and system performance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative improvements.
- Lead or contribute to IT projects by coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Translate technical concepts into clear language for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Gather and document requirements; develop functional specifications.
- Support change management and software deployment efforts.
- Assist with user training and knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to IT strategy and long‑term planning initiatives.
- Evaluate solutions and recommend improvements aligned with university goals.
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness through technology.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. (Relevant experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with experience in enterprise application support.
- 2–4 years of relevant IT experience in application development, administration, or support.
- Experience with Canvas LMS, SharePoint and Microsoft 365, software implementation and application administration, APIs, integrations, and system interfaces.
- Experience supporting academic and enterprise tools such as Team Dynamix, Adobe Creative Cloud, Panopto, Respondus, and Turnitin.
- Familiarity with instructional technologies, training practices, and knowledge transfer methods.
- Experience in higher education environments.
