Qualifications and Desired
Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
- Previous experience in educational settings preferred
- Valid interpreter certification (NIC, EIPA, or equivalent) is strongly desirable
- Comfortable working with students of varying ages and abilities
- Adaptable to both onsite and remote interpreting services
- Excellent communication, professionalism, and reliability
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff in classroom and school activities
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in real time
- Assist teachers and educational teams in supporting student engagement and learning
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant ethical guidelines and protocols
- Support a positive, inclusive, and accessible school environment for all students
