Job Overview

You will independently manage immigration matters from intake through final resolution. The role includes direct client counseling; preparing and filing applications and motions; representation before USCIS, EOIR, and consular posts; and contributing to strategy in complex cases, including federal court matters where applicable. You will also coordinate closely with case managers and supervise support staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned immigration cases from consultation through final resolution, maintaining high standards of client service and legal work product.
  • Provide comprehensive immigration legal counsel and conduct client consultations.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications and petitions (e.g., family-based, humanitarian, naturalization, work authorization, consular processing).
  • Represent clients in immigration court (EOIR) and, as needed, in federal court and related proceedings.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft persuasive legal writing (briefs, motions, memos, RFE/NOID responses, appeals).
  • Review denials and develop strategies for appeals, motions to reopen/reconsider, or other remedies.
  • Supervise, train, and delegate to paralegals, legal assistants, and case managers; ensure timely progression of cases and adherence to firm standards.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed case notes and task tracking in the firm's case management system (e.g., INSZOOM/other).
  • Stay current on changes in immigration law, regulations, and policy; help the team apply updates consistently.
Skills & Competencies
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish), oral and written.
  • Strong analytical thinking, legal judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent client communication and ability to navigate emotionally charged matters with professionalism.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, high caseload volume, and shifting priorities.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented leadership style; able to supervise and mentor support staff.
  • Strong technology skills (case management systems, legal research tools, Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).
Education & Experience (Required)
  • J.D. from an accredited law school (or LL.M. from an ABA-approved law school).
  • Active U.S. State Bar membership in good standing (federal practice authorization required).
  • 3-5 years of relevant immigration experience (administrative and/or litigation).
  • Experience managing matters independently and meeting deadlines in a high-volume environment.
Education & Experience (Preferred)
  • Federal court litigation experience.
  • Familiarity with AILA Link, Lexis, or similar legal research platforms.
  • Experience with INSZoom (or similar) and structured case management workflows.
