Purchasing Assistant

Job Summary

Help ordering trucks and maintaining our fuel purchasing program. The purchasing assistant will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures and conducting regular price comparisons to ensure that the company is always getting the best price for each product that is purchased.

• Help maintain the fuel purchasing process, which includes lining up pricing, ordering fuels, ensuring receipt, paying invoices, and balancing totals.
• Create truck and trailer specifications based on customer requirements.
• Generate quotes based on truck and trailer specifications to provide pricing and delivery expectations.
• Maintain strong working relationships with vendors.
• Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communication.
• Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual numbers.
• Maintain files: keep records of materials available and on‑order dates.
• Monitor daily work orders and inventory.
• Follow up and resolve problems with assigned products.
• Ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and establish purchasing arrangements with vendors when beneficial to the company.
• Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies.
• Perform other administrative duties as required.
