Do you enjoy working outside and with your hands? The NC State Parks has a Maintenance Construction Technician III position available. This role is responsible for maintaining state park grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment. Position assist park rangers and additional maintenance staff performing custodial duties, park boundary line clearing and maintenance, trail maintenance, trash collection, mowing, trimming, prescribed burns and/or auto mechanics.
Responsible for the supervision of one full-time staff and multiple seasonal staff.
- Performing a variety of skilled tasks in a trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
- Operation and repair of various large and small tools and equipment.
- Purchasing resources in accordance with state purchasing policies and procedures.
- Maintaining records and preparing operational forms.
- Assisting in housekeeping.
- May supervise temporary and/or permanent employees including various volunteers and community service participants on special projects.
- Maintaining preventative maintenance on various tools, equipment and facilities.
- Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics;
- Demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance/landscaping;
- Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on buildings, facilities, and/or grounds maintenance equipment.
- Demonstrated experience reading and/or interpreting blueprints/structural specifications and/or building codes.

Typical work schedule Saturday - Friday 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M; must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays and emergency call-back as needed. This schedule may vary. Must be able to perform work inside and outside in various environmental conditions with or without a reasonable accommodation. Must have the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with our without a reasonable accommodation.
Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment. This Position is designated as Essential/Mandatory and is required to work adverse weather events and may be called to work special events.
