This position is primarily responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing the entire facility and any storage facilities. Employees in this role must adhere to strict sanitation and cross contamination guidelines and GMP rules. Works cooperatively with and as a team with supervisors and managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Observe and follows the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules of facility and other policies and procedures.
• Follows all Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
• Ability to identify potential food safety concerns and reports concerns to the Food and Safety Supervisor, Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
• Attempts to prevent all foreign materials from contaminating the food.
• Controls allergens and ensures there is no cross contamination.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, this includes sweeping, mopping, properly removing contaminating materials and foreign objects.
• Communicates clearly with management and with other sanitation employees.
• Handles chemicals used in the process of cleaning and sanitation by following safety policies and procedures; and following updated MSDS (material safety data sheets) documentation
• Accountable food safety
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position may also be assigned to:

• Understands equipment functionality and the lock out tag out program.
• Has knowledge of or willing to learn how to operate a scissor lift and forklift

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• Preferred one to three months experience and/or training in a sanitation setting - specifically working with controlling cross contamination and/or allergens; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Computer experience is a plus
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Works well and cooperatively with team members and supervisors
• Bilingual is a plus
