Position Information

Position: Oncology Registered Nurse

Location: Winston‑Salem NC (This position will also require travel to satellite clinics in Kernersville and Greensboro once a week).

Department: Cancer Clinic

Shift: Full‑Time | M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm / No Weekends, No Holidays

Key Points
  • Triage calls as needed and document the information in the patient’s EMR.
  • Explain all processes to patients in plain language and utilize teach‑back to ensure understanding.
  • Chaperone during GYN exams.
  • Multi‑disciplinary collaboration with lab and infusion department.
  • Dialogue with the patient or chosen support system to identify what is important to them and incorporate their preferences into the individualized care plan.

What We’re Looking For
  • RN licensure in NC or a compact state.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited program (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of one to two years of nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment.
  • Willingness to earn your oncology nursing certification (OCN) within 30 months.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; 4‑year or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a board‑approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Minimum of one to two years of nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment.
Licensure and Certification
  • Current RN licensure in the appropriate state, required.
  • ENPC, TNCC or CEN preferred.
  • NC state‑approved curriculum for restrictive interventions (facility‑specific) within three months of hire, required.
  • Oncology nursing certification (OCN, BMT) within 30 months of employment with a signed OCN education agreement, required.
Additional Skills and Requirements
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care.
  • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses knowledge of NMG/FMC policies and standards.
  • Demonstrates self‑directed learning through completion of any orientation requirements, nursing certification/updates, and continuing education programs.
  • Possesses clinical assessment skills relative to the hematology or oncology patient/family.
  • Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer.
