• Unit Information:
o Beds: 22 Bed ICU
• Census: 20 patients/day
o Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year minimum with CVICU experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler:
Yes, with CVICU Experience
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Surgical and Medical Cardiac Critical Care unit, that cares for patients suffering cardiovascular support. Common seen diagnosis Post operations for CABG, valve replacement/ repair, Impella, IABP management, thoracic aortic aneurysms etc.
• Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:2
o CNA: 1:20
• Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
o CCRN (preferred)
• Skills required:
o Post cardiac assessment, know how to care for circulatory support (ISBP, IMPELLA, LVAD, ECMO), titration of vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medication, interpretation of cardiac waveforms, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Support within the Department:
o CNA: ADLs, Blood Sugar, vital signs and transport
o Receptionist:
Unit management of phone calls, and replacement. Yes, 24 Hours
o Charge nurse:
Yes, often in assignment
o Phlebotomy:
Nurse Draw
o RT 24/7:
Yes, allocated in CVICU
o Intensivist 24/7
