Employment Details

Full‑time position.

Hours:

35.1 per week with patient‑needs coverage on nights for a 12‑hour shift. Pay range: $19.80 – $29.70 per hour. Eligible for benefits.

Unit Overview

The Admission Holding Unit (AHU) is a 20‑bed unit that provides short‑term care for patients awaiting placement in an inpatient unit. The unit is high‑volume, multispecialty and serves a diverse patient population across numerous service lines.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Licensure, Certification, and Registration
  • Completion of a state‑approved Nurse Aide I course.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
Essential Functions
  • Participate in the nursing process by providing direct patient care under RN direction.
  • Perform special procedures correctly under RN direction.
  • Create and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Communicate effectively, positively and professionally with the team, coworkers, patients and family members.
  • Taking personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with the specific age‑group guidelines served.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective performance amid frequent workload changes and competing demands.
  • Basic computer skills.
Work Environment
  • Contact with patients, family members, visitors, coworkers, and medical staff.
  • Regular exposure to blood‑borne diseases, infectious and contagious diseases.
  • Exposure to radiation hazards and cleaning agents/chemicals.
  • Occasional irregular hours; use of personal protective equipment.
