Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU position requiring at least 1 year of cardiology experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

  • 28-bed unit with an average census of 26
  • Cares for patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, chest pain rule-out, post cardiac catheterization, post EP procedures (pacemaker, ICD, ablation), arrhythmia management, and vascular conditions such as PAD, AAA repair, and DVT/PE
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 and CNA to patient ratio of 1:11-14
  • 12-hour day shifts ) totaling 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, or 5CC West
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
  • Support team includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring performed by a tech, with nurses responsible for verifying strips once per shift
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent cardiology/cardiac PCU experience required
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care skills required
  • Must be comfortable titrating multiple gtts including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Provide direct nursing care to a cardiac PCU patient population including post-procedural and arrhythmia management cases
  • Work within a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center status
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a family-oriented atmosphere
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free on-site parking provided
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of designated holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Clinical interview required prior to placement
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous employees must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before being eligible for a travel assignment
