Description:
Cross posting after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional requests for time off could possibly result in a cancellation. Must have orthopedic experience. Unit will accept first-time travelers with Epic experience. Local candidates are accepted. IV start and telemetry skills are required. Charge nurse experience and Level I trauma experience are preferred. Expect a patient ratio of 5-6:1, with potential to flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases.
This unit requires that travelers may float to other medical-surgical units based on staffing needs. Every other weekend is required. If a nurse calls out on a weekend, they will need to make up the time on a weekend. The average daily census is 37 with 39 available beds. The patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical. This is a fast-paced unit that requires nurses to manage pain effectively.
Staffing is flexible, and block scheduling may be offered. Nurses must complete EKG testing prior to starting this specialty. COVID-19 vaccinations are not required; flu vaccinations are required with medical or religious exemptions only.
