What You'll Need
- B.S., M.S., or D.P.T degree from an accredited physical therapy school.
- Current licensure in the applicable state.
- CPR certification in Basic Life Support, Level
C.
- Adhere to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment through effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building. Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures and stay informed about policy changes.
- Provide patient care assessment and treatment, ensuring evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional, and aligned with the Standard of Practice. Establish realistic treatment goals, encourage patients and significant others, and respond to changes in patient physiologic state. Recommend next levels of care and supervise support staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation by completing written patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, and other documentation per policy, including ICD‑10 codes and departmental statistics. Keep records legible and systematically ordered.
- Meet department financial and productivity standards, understand budgetary expectations, and adjust schedules to satisfy patient and department needs.
- Participate in process management to optimize quality and efficiency, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate progress and barriers to supervisors. Research and recommend evidence‑based best practices.
- Promote professional development and education for health‑care workers, provide committee representation, conduct in‑service training, and share knowledge with peers and students.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers. Respond to inquiries, promote open communication, and share information gained from seminars. Keep supervisors informed of issues and resolutions.
- Provide appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines, utilizing specific knowledge and skills, interpreting responses accurately, and maintaining competence through continual learning about growth and development.
- Communicate professionally with physicians, nurses, and other health‑care providers while delivering quality patient care.
- Communicate appropriately with patients of all age groups and significant others.
- Possess knowledge, clinical skills, and understanding of patient care across the entire span of life.
