American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift hospital position requiring ortho experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases
- 39-bed unit with an average daily census of 37
- Typical patient ratio of 5-6:1, with flexing up to 7:1 in extreme cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:15pm-7:15am)
- 36 or 48 hours per week can be offered
- Block scheduling available (F/S/S or S/S/M)
- Every other weekend required, with missed weekend shifts made up on another weekend
- Floating required to other med-surg units within the facility based on census needs
- Fast-paced environment requiring strong pain management skills for ortho and spine patients
- Active RN license (NC or Compact)
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care experience, including at least 1 year of orthopedic experience
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Charge nurse and Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with hip and trauma hip patients preferred
- Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacement preferred
- Experience with spinal cord injury and pre/post neurosurgery patients preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Provide nursing care to orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patients, with emphasis on pain management
- First-time travelers welcomed if they have Epic experience
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
- Weekly orientation provided
- Pre-start modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed online prior to start and annually
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
