American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiology Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least one year of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center.
Details- 28-bed Cardiac PCU within a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes ACS, heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, chest pain rule-out, post cardiac cath (PCI or without stent), post EP procedures (pacemaker, ICD, ablation), arrhythmia management, and vascular conditions (PAD, AAA repair, DVT/PE)
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 and CNA to patient ratio of 1:11-14
- 12-hour day shifts ), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- Nurses responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips once per shift
- 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support available
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiology experience required
- Comfortable with cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care
- Required to be comfortable titrating drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide bedside nursing care to a cardiac PCU population including monitoring, medication titration, and post-procedural care
- Supported by CNAs for vitals, blood glucose checks, hourly rounding, and ADLs, along with a receptionist/HUC and charge nurse
- Peripheral blood draws performed by phlebotomy; no dedicated IV/VAT team
- Facility orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a family-like atmosphere
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Free on-site parking available
- Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays

- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
- Previous employees must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before reapplying as a traveler
