American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN
- Med/Surg Tele for a fast-paced Admission Holding unit requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• Admission Holding unit within a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital
• 20-bed unit split between 5A and 5B, functioning as a Transitional Care Unit
• General Med/Surg patient population including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, and wounds
• Any service line may admit, so occasional general surgical patients may be seen
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 12-hour day shifts ), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within scope of practice throughout the hospital
• Bedside cardiac monitors with central monitoring at the nurses' station
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skills required:
  
  trach care, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line blood draws
• Experience with non-titrating drips required:
  Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix
• Experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone drips preferred but not required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct Med/Surg and telemetry nursing care within a busy admission holding unit
• Support staff includes CNAs on each unit side, a charge nurse who may assist with patients as needed, 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and residents
• No dedicated receptionist or HUC support on the unit
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Free parking available on site
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Former employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible to return
