American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift role requiring prior travel assignment experience and dedicated med/surg background.
Details- Med/Surg Tele unit with 1:6 patient ratios
- 42 daily census across 43 rooms/beds
- Care for stroke, neurosurgery, and neuro diagnoses including epilepsy, subdural hematomas, and other neurological conditions
- 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) on-site, with training provided if traveler will be utilized there
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15), 4x per week
- Contracts accepted for 13-26 weeks, with 36 or 48 hour weekly options
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required to other MS/Tele areas, which may include COVID care units
- Uses PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR systems
- Active RN license, NC or Compact
- Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience (not MS/Tele) in work history
- At least 2 completed travel assignments required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills required:
IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Med/Surg neuro experience required
- Provide care for a neurology-focused patient population including stroke, seizure, and traumatic brain injury cases
- Unit orientation is 36 hours, with weekly orientation scheduling
- Scrub color required:
Navy - Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests of 7 days or less are auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Any RTO taken over a scheduled weekend will require make-up time added to the end of the contract
- Call-offs may require make-up shifts within the same week or at the end of the contract
- Local candidates accepted within 50 miles, at a reduced rate
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate schedules and transportation
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying as a traveler, with facility approval required
