Responsibilities
- Deliver team-based patient care for chronic and complex pain conditions
- Perform comprehensive examinations and evaluations
- Diagnose and manage patients with chronic and complex pain conditions
- Develop individualized patient care and treatment plans
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other healthcare team members
- Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
- Educate patients about diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Perform procedural skills according to departmental and practice guidelines
- Participate in surgical and interventional procedure follow-up care
- Develop expertise in imaging and laboratory interpretation, surgical follow-up, procedural follow-up, non-opioid medication management, diagnosis and treatment planning, and interventional pain medicine
- Precept students and/or other medical learners as appropriate

- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Physician Assistant:
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program - Physician Assistant:
Master's degree or higher required - Physician Assistant:
Current or eligible for North Carolina Medical Board licensure - Physician Assistant:
Current NCCPA certification - Physician Assistant: BLS certification required
- Nurse Practitioner:
Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner master’s program - Nurse Practitioner:
Master's degree or higher required - Nurse Practitioner:
Current or eligible for North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licensure - Nurse Practitioner:
Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through AANP or ANCC - Nurse Practitioner: BLS certification required
- Previous clinical experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with neurology, neurosurgery, spine medicine, orthopedics, and general medicine
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to patient education
- Ability to function in accordance with regulatory requirements and departmental-specific credentialing requirements
Demonstrates expertise in diagnosing and managing chronic and complex pain conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating effectively with healthcare teams. Holds relevant certifications and licensure while maintaining a strong commitment to patient education and regulatory compliance.
