American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of ED experience and TNCC certification.
Details- Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department at an academic medical center with Chest Pain, Burn, and Stroke Center designations
- Unit has 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds
- Average census of 200-220 patients per day
- Receives frequent air flights with helipad access
- Treats full range of ED patients including trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, GSW, MVC, overdose, psychiatric, and cardiac/respiratory arrest cases
- RN patient ratios of 3:1 to 6:1 based on clinical area and acuity
- LPN ratios of 4:1 to 6:1 based on clinical area and acuity
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, open to 48-hour schedules
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- May float to the ED Transition Care Unit
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, GE ultrasound, and GE EKG machines
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Minimum 12 months of core experience in the specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
- Level 1 trauma center experience required for first-time travelers, with a minimum of 3 years experience
- Epic EMR experience
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making across a wide range of trauma and acute conditions
- Supported by ED Techs, Unit Secretary, Charge Nurse, Resource/Pod Leader Nurses, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, Intensivists, Critical Care Pharmacists, and Paramedic staff
- Travelers are not typically utilized in trauma bays during initial contracts
- Unit is undergoing renovation, currently in its second of three phases
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 trauma center experience
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible as a traveler
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position
