American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• Acute Care for Elderly unit within a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
• 16-bed unit with consistently full census
• General medicine patients with geriatric-related diagnoses including DM, GI, respiratory, renal, and wound care needs
• Patient population 65+, functional and community dwelling, with a strong focus on mobilization
• Bed turnover of 3-4 times
• RN to patient ratio of 5-6:1, CNA ratio of 8:1
• 12-hour day shifts (7A-7P), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Floating required to 8 Reynolds, 8 North, 9 North A/B, 9 Ardmore, 10 Ardmore, 8 North-B, and 8 Ardmore
• EMR:
  Epic
• IV Pump:
  Alaris
• Medication dispensing via Omnicell
• Centralized telemetry monitoring (not unit-based)

• Active RN license, NC or compact, required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in the unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience reading and signing telemetry strips each shift
• Strong IV skills and time management abilities required
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and tolerate moderate to high stress levels
• Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care to geriatric Med/Surg patients with a focus on mobilization, dressing changes, and chronic disease management
• Support team includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, rapid response team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, centralized telemetry techs, educator, and OT/PT/ST
• No dedicated IV/VAT team on the unit
• Unit culture is patient-centered, highly reliable, and team-oriented
• Scrub color: royal blue

• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Clinical interview required
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position
